A video of Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe “resting his eyes” at an event has recently resurfaced on social media, leaving social media users saying it is time the 93-year-old considered stepping down.
President Robert Mugabe has been in power since 1980 and does not seem to have any intention of stepping down, as he has been confirmed as a presidential candidate in the country’s 2018 presidential elections.
Pictures and videos of President Mugabe sleeping in meetings and events have been circulating on social media. Following a video of him sleeping at the World Economic Forum meeting in South Africa in May this year, his spokesperson, George Charamba, said Mugabe had a medical condition that made his eyes sensitive to bright lights.
However, in this video, Mugabe struggles to walk properly as he enters the stage at an event. Sitting also becomes a struggle, as he has to do it as slowly as possible. A few moments after the event starts, he “rests his eyes”.
