Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton made their first official engagement together Wednesday morning. The two were at the first annual Royal Foundation forum with their royal significant others The Duke of Cambridge (Prince William) and Prince Harry.
The four were all smiles as they took to the stage. Prince Harry joked that the four were now “stuck together”.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were matching in blue outfits. Meghan opted for a navy Jason Wu dress whilst Kate rocked a maternity dress from Seraphine. Prince William and Harry were dressed smart casually in trousers and suit jackets.
The Royal Foundation supports charities including the Heads Together mental health campaign and the Invictus Games for injured troops.
The event was themed “Making A Difference Together”. The four royals discussed the charitable work they have done and what they will be focussing on in the near future.
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton seem to have developed a close bond. The two looked friendly with one another as they entered the forum. Kate and Meghan have only been pictured together once before the Royal Foundation forum. It was on Christmas day when Meghan joined the royal family for church at Sandringham.
During the question and answer session Markle said she is new to her role but “it’s very important to want to hit the ground running”. She highlighted that as a member of the British royal family she hoped to use her position to highlight the empowerment of women.
Markle said that with the Me Too and Time’s Up campaigns against sexual harassment, “there is no better time that to really continue to shine a light on women feeling empowered and people really helping to support them.”
The former actress, who is to marry Prince Harry in May, has previously campaigned for the United Nations on topics such as gender equality and modern slavery.
