Caitlyn Jenner is seriously considering running for public office. The 67-year-old reality TV star, who was known as Bruce Jenner prior to undergoing gender reassignment surgery, has revealed she is currently weighing up the possibility of moving into politics, where she would represent the state of California.
In an interview with John Catsimatidis on AM 970 in New York on Sunday, Caitlyn Jenner admitted she has been questioning ways to make a bigger impact on the world and politics may just be it.
“I have considered it, I like the political side of it. The political side of it has always been very intriguing to me. Over the next six months or so, I [have to] find out where I can do a better job. Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside. And we are in the process of determining that.”
Caitlyn Jenner who is a transgender activist and a lifelong Republican and formerly expressed support for Donald Trump, said she had a keen interest in politics. If she is to run she will likely run as a Republican. She said the current perception of the Republican Party was of rich white guys trying to make money. Jenner hopes in the next generation they can change the perception of the Party and make it the party of equality.
Caitlyn, who won an Olympic gold medal for the US at the Games in 1976, explained that she has already worked with the American Unity Fund in a bid to ensure lawmakers understand LGBT issues.
The 67-year-old Caitlyn Jenner, who is a politically conservative Christian, said she planned to make a choice within the next six months or so.
